Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). Fzr having trouble starting?

Fzr having trouble starting? I recently got a fzr600 and it ran fine, but I flooded it the other day and it dried out and worked fine but went to start it today (7days later) it fired up and then died and now won't start, went I try kick it over it tries to start but won't fire up, and it stinks of petrol, I'm gonna change the spark plugs this week to see if that helps and also gonna clean air filter incase it's causing the engine to run to rich, but any idea what else it could be if these two fail? Before I flooded it the other day it ran fine and no loss of power or anythin, it's recent had the carbs clean and re balanced, new battery and oil, thanks

Yamaha is infamous for a weak charging system. Well, at least every Yamaha I've owned. So put that battery on a charger overnight. Meanwhile, pull the plugs and have a look. I bet they are carbon fouled. Recheck float level on the carb. Floats could be set too high, too much gas getting to the cylinder.

Pontiac . How to Identify the Gear Ratio for a 2005 Ford Explorer

The gear ratio in your 2005 Ford Explorer must be known before ordering replacement parts, or upgrade parts, for the rear differential. The 2005 Explorer is equipped with an 8.8-inch rear differential and may also feature Ford's "Traction-Loc" limited slip system. Knowing the gear ratio and if it is a limited slip differential will ensure the right parts are ordered to repair or upgrade the rear end of your Explorer. The average person can determine the gear ratio in just a few minutes using basic tools.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Wheel chocks
Floor jack
Jack stands
Spray parts cleaner
Shop rags
13 mm wrench

Step by Step :
1
Block the front wheels with wheel chocks pushed securely against the front tires. Lift the center of the rear differential with a floor jack until there is sufficient room under the back of the Explorer for you to reach the rear differential. Slide jack stands under both rear frame rails and lower the jack until the frame contacts the stands.
2
Clean off the tag on the differential cover using spray parts cleaner and shop rags. Remove the tag from the differential, using a 13 mm wrench to unbolt it from the differential cover, if the head of the bolt is covering the number stamped on the tag.
3
Read the lower set of numbers on the tag. The first sequence of numbers in the lower set of numbers indicate the gear ratio. For example, "308" represents a gear ratio of 3.08:1 and an open, or unlocked, carrier. A "Traction-Loc" limited slip differential has an "L" in the numbers. In this type of differential the code is "3L08" to indicate a gear ratio of 3.08:1 and a "Traction-Loc" limited slip carrier.
Tips & Warnings
Failure to support the vehicle weight with jack stands while working under it can result in vehicle damage and severe injury.

Pontiac . Chevy 10 Bolt Rear End Tools

Setting up a Chevy 10-bolt rear end is a challenging and time-consuming project. A good knowledge of shop math and knowing how to read micrometers and dial indicators is required. In addition, having access to compressed air and impact wrenches is essential. A reliable torque wrench rounds out the requirements to get the job done.
Micrometers and Dial Indicators
When rebuilding a Chevy 10-bolt rear end, all the shims that adjust the ring gear and pinion are measured and kept in order. It is rarely necessary to change the shims; however, as a reference, they should be measured and the measurements documented. A micrometer is used to make these precise measurements. Micrometers and dial indicators are engineered to measure in units of 1/1000 of an inch. That means that an inch is divided into 1,000 parts, which can be measured using either of these instruments.
Torque Wrench
A torque wrench is used to measure the bearing pre-load that is applied to the pinion. The pinion is connected to the driveshaft and is used to drive the ring gear. The input from the driveshaft is converted to 90-degree motion by the ring gear and pinion. The pre-load on the pinion gear means that the pinion will not spin freely. There is pressure, or a load, on the bearing. This prolongs the bearing life and the load is measured with a torque wrench. A strong impact wrench that is air-powered is used to apply this load by tightening the pinion nut. The load is then measure with a torque wrench. Another way to tell if the pre-load is correct is to attach a 4-foot breaker bar onto the nut that attaches the driveshaft yoke to the pinion. It will suspend at 90 degrees without dropping if the pre-load on the bearing is correct. A more accurate way is to measure the amount of torque it takes to move the pinion. The ring-gear bearing caps are also torqued into place with a torque wrench.
Dial Indicator and Magnetic Base
A dial indicator is used to measure the backlash of the gear teeth. A small amount of backlash is needed to prevent the car from jerking when shifting from forward to reverse. If the teeth are too close, however, the transition is rough. If the teeth are too far apart, the car will "clunk" into gear. The dial indicator is mounted into a magnetic holder and then attached to the rear end. The indicator is placed against the ring gear and the driveshaft moved back and forth. The indicator needle will travel and measure the backlash distance. Side shims are added or subtracted as needed to set the backlash to exact specifications.
Tooth-Pattern Indicator
To make sure the gear teeth are meshing properly, a tooth-pattern indicator is rubbed liberally on the ring gear. This paste-like substance will show the exact pattern as the gears spin around. Ideally, the pattern will fall in the middle of the ring gear and will not be too deep or too shallow. It should also reflect the "pull" side, or when the car is under acceleration, as well as the "coast" side, or when the car is coasting and no load is on the gears. Adjustments are made according to the pattern by adding or removing shims.

not ball bearings. .Chapter 18: Being a Buddy to Your Brakes and Bearings Figure 18-11: Awheel bearing. 3. Take a good look at the grease in the spaces between the bearings. Do not wipe off the grease! If the grease has sparkly silver slivers or particles in it or the rollers are pitted or chipped, you must replace the bearings. If the outer bearings are damaged, the inner bearings probably are, too. In this case, either replace the bearings in an auto class under the instructor's guidance or have a repair facility do the job for you. 4. If you don't intend to repack your outer bearings at this time but you want to continue your inspection, do not attempt to wipe any grease off them, no matter how icky they look. Just put them in a little plastic bag and lay them on your rag, pointing in the right direction. The bag will keep dust from getting into them. A speck of dust can wear out a bearing quickly. If you are repacking your outer bearings, clean them thoroughly in solvent or kerosene with an old paintbrush. You need to get rid of all the old grease in order to inspect the bearings 854 Car Insurance subaru forester 2009 xlimitedsportutility4d 153827

properly. Also, when you repack the bearings with fresh grease, you don't want any old grease spoiling the new stuff. 5. When the bearings are shiny clean, rinse them off with water and dry them, or use brake cleaner to remove the solvent. If you pack new grease over the solvent, the grease will dissolve and you'll ruin your bearings. 6. When the bearings are clean and dry, look at the rollers for signs of wear. If the rollers are gouged or bluish in color, or if you can almost slip the rollers out of their place, replace the bearing and its race, which is pressed into the hub. '*art'": keeping ^our Car m Good Condition, System by System 7. To repack the outer bearing, take a gob of wheel bearing grease (which is different from most chassis-lube grease) and place it in the palm of your left hand (if you're a righty).

You may want to invest in a pair of cheap, disposable plastic gloves for this job. However, there's something kind of nice about fresh, clean grease, and if you use gloves, you miss one of the more sensual aspects of getting intimately involved with your car. Hand cleaner gets the grease off easily, in any event. 8. Press the bearing into the gob of grease with the heel of your other hand (see Figure 18-12). Doing so forces the grease into the bearing and out the other end. Make sure that you work the grease into every gap in the bearing. You want it to be nice and yucky. Now put your bearing down on your clean rag. Figure 18-12: How to pack bearings with your bare hands.

• If you have drum brakes, you can see another set of bearings hi the center hole of the drum. These are your inner wheel bearings. At this time, you have to decide whether you're going to remove the inner bearings to check and pack them. The following will help you decide whether to remove the inner bearings: • You can't remove the inner bearing from its seat in the hub unless you have a new grease seal for it. So if you're just checking on this expedition, leave the inner bearings alone until you're sure from the condition of the outer bearings that repacking is in order. • Generally speaking, if the outer bearings look okay, the inner ones are okay, too. Just check each wheel and put everything back according to the instructions for reassembling drum brakes earlier in this chapter.

Skip Steps 10 through 13 and continue with Step 14. If you are repacking the inner bearings, slide the brake drum or disc toward you, with the inner bearings still in place, but do not slide the drum completely off the spindle. Instead, screw the adjusting nut back hi again and pull the drum toward you and push it back. The adjusting nut should catch the inner bearing and its grease seal and free them from inside the hub. 10. Clean and pack the inner bearings, using the technique described in Steps 5 through 8. 11. Take a rag and wipe out the hole in the hub of the drum where the inner bearing went; then take another gob of grease and smooth it into the hole. Be sure that the grease fills the races inside the hub where the bearing fits. Wipe off excess grease around the outside of the hole or it will fly around when the car's in motion, possibly damaging your brakes. 12. Insert the inner bearing into the hub, with the small end first. Take the new grease seal and spread a film of grease around the sealing end (the flat, smooth side). 13. To fit the new grease seal into place properly, slide it in evenly; otherwise, it will bend or break, and you'll lose your grease. a follow pipe or a large socket from a socket wrench set that has roughly the same diameter as the seal.
